Sortie en 1989, Full Moon Fever est le premier album solo de Tom Petty (sans les Heartbreakers)...et paradoxalement l'une de ses plus belles créations. Enregistré sous la houlette de Jeff Lynne, les mélodies renvoient instinctivement aux sixties comme Yer so bad, Love is a long road ou Depending on you. Se trouve également une reprise de Gene Clark Feel a whole better. Plusieurs de ces chansons seront reprises, notamment I won't back down magnifiquement chantée par Johnny Cash sur l'album Solitary Man publié en 2000.

The Weird World of LSD

"The Weird World of LSD" is one of those anti-drug films that, like "Reefer Madness" and "Marihuana", purport to warn the audience away from drug use, while at the same time sensationalizing it's subject for all they can. Episodic in nature, the film shows the effects of LSD on various people (sans dialogue; the whole movie is narrated). Not all of the "trips" taken are negative, making one wonder just what the producer's aim was. But the most striking aspect of the film is that it was filmed in black and white. Apparently the film's budget didn't include enough money for color stock, but wouldn't you think that a movie about LSD could hardly be made without it?? Strange.

Noir Désir Le temps des cerises

Cette chanson est si fortement associée à la Commune de Paris que, dans les esprits, elle fut écrite pour elle.
Pourtant elle fut écrite sous Napoléon III avant même la guerre de 1870 (dont l'humiliation de la défaite française devait produire, en 1871, l’occasion favorable au déclenchement de la Commune). Un fait notoire est qu'elle fut dédicacée (mais après coup) par son auteur à une infirmière morte lors de la Semaine sanglante.

Les cerises évoquent différentes choses. D'une part, elles rappellent, par leur couleur, le sang et le drapeau rouge, liés entre autre à la Commune, ce qui fait que la chanson demeure associée à l'idée de liberté, de solidarité, et de résistance face à l'oppression. D'autre part, les cerises renvoient au sucre et à l'été, et donc à un contexte joyeux voire festif. Ainsi la chanson véhicule une certaine nostalgie et une certaine idée de gaieté populaire.

Origines : à part dans le paysage électronique français, Télépopmusik, du nom d'une boutique de hi-fi/électroménager du 19ème arrondissement de Paris, avait lourdement frappé en 2001 avec Genetic World, un premier album electro-pop d'une maturité insolente. Adoubé par les publicitaires, le succès international fut quasi immédiat. Ils reviennent aujourd'hui avec Angel Milk, un nouvel album studio qui fait suite à la compilation The Catalogue of Telepopmusik
